Tesla's Middle East New Vehicle Limited Warranty is identical in Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and took effect on 8 July 2024 (Tesla's Qatar warranty document). Its battery and drive unit limits are:

Tesla started selling cars in Qatar in December 2023, and Teslarati reported in June 2024 that its first store is at Doha Festival City. A Tesla bought new through Tesla in Qatar is therefore under three years old in 2026, with most of its battery warranty ahead of it. Middle East vs North America: how the Tesla warranty compares
Much of what you read online quotes the American terms. Tesla's North American New Vehicle Limited Warranty, effective 1 September 2026, is written in miles, but the distances are almost identical once converted: 150,000 miles is about 241,000 km, 120,000 miles about 193,000 km and 100,000 miles about 161,000 km.

Two differences matter more than the numbers. The Middle East document names over-discharge specifically, with a two-week deadline, while the North American one uses broader wording about charging procedures. And because Tesla ties warranty service to the car's original Warranty Region, where a car was first sold matters as much as which terms look better.
What the Tesla battery warranty covers and excludes
What is covered
- Defects: Tesla will repair or replace a defective battery or drive unit, using new, reconditioned or remanufactured parts.
- Like-for-like capacity: a replacement battery will have at least the capacity the original had before it failed, allowing for age and mileage.
- Capacity loss below 70%: a battery that drops under 70% within the warranty period qualifies for repair or replacement.
- Battery fire damage: the Middle East document covers damage from a battery fire, even where driver error was involved.

Does Tesla warranty cover battery degradation?
Only past a certain point. Tesla treats gradual loss of energy and power as normal ageing, so the warranty only applies when the battery falls below 70% of its original capacity within the warranty period. A car that loses 20% in 8 years has, in Tesla's terms, aged as expected.
How a capacity claim works
- The 70% line is about capacity, not the number on the screen. Tesla calls the range estimate an "imperfect measure" of battery capacity, so a lower range figure alone does not prove a claim.
- The fix is not necessarily a new battery. After a capacity claim, the repaired or replacement battery only has to stay above 70% for the rest of the warranty period.
- Timing matters. Once either the 8 years or the distance limit is reached, capacity loss is outside the warranty.
How likely is a Tesla to fall below 70%?
Not very. Geotab's study of more than 22,700 EVs across 21 models found average degradation of 2.3% a year, projecting to about 81.6% capacity after 8 years (Geotab). Recurrent's research across more than 30,000 EVs found fewer than 4% had needed a battery replacement outside recalls, and about 0.3% of vehicles built from 2022 onwards (Recurrent).
Geotab also found that hot climates and heavy high-power fast charging speed up degradation, so a Tesla fast-charged daily in hot weather will sit closer to the 70% line than average. Tesla warranty transfer and the Warranty Region rule
If you sell your Tesla, the battery and drive unit warranty goes with it. The Middle East document makes the warranty transferable to later private owners at no cost, and the new owner inherits whatever years and kilometres remain.
The catch is geography: warranty service is provided in the car's original Warranty Region. A Tesla first sold in North America, Europe or elsewhere was sold under that region's warranty, so before buying an imported Tesla, ask Tesla whether it can be serviced under warranty in Qatar. Even between Gulf countries with identical terms, confirm before relying on warranty service outside the country of sale.
Used Tesla battery warranty: what second owners get
A used Tesla keeps the balance of its original battery warranty. The Middle East used car terms we reviewed are in Tesla's UAE Used Vehicle Limited Warranty, effective 8 July 2024. It is a UAE document, so confirm with Tesla whether the same terms apply in Qatar.

Tesla extended battery warranty: the Battery Extended Service Agreement
Tesla does sell extra battery cover, but the published version is for North America. Tesla's Battery Extended Service Agreement (document SC-25-00-018, dated 11 December 2025) sets out these terms:
- Price for Model 3 and Model Y: US$2,000 in the US, or CA$2,800 in Canada.
- Cover: 2 years or 30,000 miles (48,000 km) after the original battery warranty ends.
- Deductible: US$500, or CA$700.
- Exclusion: capacity degradation is not covered.
- Timing: it must be bought before the original battery warranty expires.
- Transfer: it can be transferred with the car.
Not a Tesla App reported in December 2025 that the agreement was expected to reach Europe and Asia-Pacific in 2026. How to protect your Tesla battery warranty
Most exclusions come down to how the car is charged, stored and repaired:
- Never leave the battery flat. Recharge well within two weeks, and leave the car with a healthy charge before a long trip away.
